Designed by JA Master Bench Jeweler Jeff Matthews, this GRS® Slide & Lock Tru-Axis system is specifically intended to help you work more efficiently when you work under a microscope. The Tru-Axis feature provides the additional space to accommodate a microscope without having to constantly re-adjust and re-focus. The Tru-Axis plate offers a separate brass handle that provides 4" of travel for the lower tool holder so that you can adjust it independently of the upper holder, as you move from step to step—especially in setting and fabrication tasks. In combination with the adjustability of the Slide & Lock, which also offers an easy-grip brass handle/clamp and allows you to raise or lower the overall height of your work to one of three positions, the Tru-Axis significantly increases your ability to perfectly and precisely position your work. The plate securely holds your work where you want it—at the optimal position for each task at the bench—especially when viewing work through a microscope (or other magnifiers, such as an OptiVISOR®). The system saves significant time in your production processes as you move from one step to the next. The adjustment options of the Tru-Axis Slide & Lock help ensure you work in the most comfortable position, minimizing eye, neck and back strain.
The main Slide & Lock plate mounts to a GRS® mounting plate (available separately), which securely attaches to your bench, and is ideal for any tool that attaches to the fixed GRS mounting plate, including all BenchMate® holder models and accessories such as the block shelf, bench pin, multi-purpose vise and more. The Tru-Axis plate attaches to the lower station on the main plate.
The three mounting positions—top, middle or bottom—offer a total of 8" vertical travel; the Tru-Axis plate offers 4" of independent adjustment between the two tool-holding plates. The system can hold two separate tools at the same time and supports up to 35 pounds. Simply loosen the cam-lock handles, one at a time, to easily adjust each slide plate as desired, then lock it in place to secure the plate as desired. Reverse the handle to accommodate either right- or left-hand use.
Important: To safely adjust the slide plate, first support the slide plate from the bottom, then loosen the cam-lock and raise or lower the slide plate to the desired work position (do not lift from the bench pin or any other tool because the tool will lift off of the mount). Lock the plate in its new position before removing the support at the bottom.
