Description

Idaho Garnet™ is hand-mined by Clearwater Mining Corporation and features a wine-red to orange-red color and a good play of light, making it an appealing choice for custom jewelry designs of all types. Garnet is the birthstone for January.

The deep red color or traditional garnet comes from iron and magnesium. Garnet exhibits few inclusions, and those that are present tend to be rounded, seedlike crystals with irregular edges. Garnets are actually a family of closely related stones. The most common color is red; but garnets are also found in green, orange, pink and blue.

Rio is proud to offer the American Mined™ Collection, a growing selection of gemstones sourced from mines located here in America. These gemstones consistently present the excellent color, clarity and quality we look for in every stone we offer you. Each of these gemstones allows us to provide a clear, documentable path from the mine to your bench; you and your customers can be confident that every one is mined, cut and processed under conditions that meet all standards for worker safety, environmental protection and responsible production.

The oval cut is an even, symmetrical shape but elongated. The arrangement of its facets is similar to that of a round brilliant, designed to maximize light and color.
