Description

Mined in the Pacific Northwest, this American Mined™ Oregon Champagne Sunstone™ displays a light, champagne-like color and bright clarity with few inclusions. This bright, attractive stone is just the thing to highlight stone-set jewelry designs.

This variety of sunstone is a plagioclase feldspar composed of a mixture of calcium and sodium. The relative hardness of sunstone makes it best suited for jewelry items that do not see heavy wear, such as pendants, earrings or brooches.

Rio is proud to offer the American Mined™ Collection, a growing selection of gemstones sourced from mines located here in America. These gemstones consistently present the excellent color, clarity and quality we look for in every stone we offer you. Each of these gemstones allows us to provide a clear, documentable path from the mine to your bench; you and your customers can be confident that every one is mined, cut and processed under conditions that meet all standards for worker safety, environmental protection and responsible production.

The oval cut is an even, symmetrical shape but elongated. The arrangement of its facets is similar to that of a round brilliant, designed to maximize light and color.
