This 1/4-hard, 24-karat yellow gold round wire, the bread-&-butter of jewelry making, is ideal for creating components and for a wide variety of techniques. Metal that is 1/4-hard is a bit resistant to bending but readily takes shape; it is ideal for forming more simpler shapes as it will work-harden more quickly. Keep in mind that hardness is changeable (by annealing or heat-hardening) and is relative among metal types (each temper will feel and handle differently from one metal to another). When finishing your pieces, also keep in mind that the harder the metal is, the brighter a finish it will take.
26-gauge wire is ideal for stringing pearls and small-hole beads. As you know, jewelry wire has as many uses as there are jewelers and designers who use it to achieve their vision; these suggested uses simply represent some of the more common applications of this metal weight.
This wire is packaged in coils and can be cut to any length that satisfies the system minimum. Orders must weigh at least 0.01 dwt.; if you click "Add to Cart" for a quantity less than this, the cart will offer a prompt to let you know what the minimum for this item is.
Ideal for high-end designs and for pieces that are not exposed to a great deal of daily wear and tear, high-karat gold materials are highly workable and deliver a signature deep-yellow color to designs.
• Be aware that fine-gauge wire that is normally spooled may simply be wrapped and bagged, at our discretion, when ordered in lengths less than 5 ft.
• We strive to measure quantities ordered as closely as possible; however, due to manufacturing tolerances at the mill, please allow for a ±10% variance when ordering.
• IMPORTANT: As a supplier to the jewelry trade, Rio Grande strongly discourages any medical use of our fabrication metals. Your safety is important to us; therefore, we do not accept orders of fine gold for any purpose that includes ingesting, injecting, implanting or applying it topically. Do not use Rio Grande fine gold for colloidal purposes.
