This sterling silver pendant features rope and beaded edge with fourteen mounted round and pear-shaped Sleeping Beauty™ turquoise cabochons—round stones graduate in size (one 8 x 6mm, seven 6 x 4mm and two 5 x 3mm) and the four pear-shaped (5 x 3mm) are placed at the top and bottom of the pendant. Reminiscent of a Navajo squash blossom necklace, the inverted crescent design is sometimes called "Naja." The Sleeping Beauty turquoise mine, located in Arizona, closed in 2012, making this turquoise valuable and increasingly rare. The design at the top of the pendant conceals a hinged enhancer bail. Enhancers are ideal for attaching pendants, charms, drops or dangles to necklaces or bead strand designs—an enhancer is easy to use and instantly interchangeable. Hinged enhancers open to make it simple to position the pendant, then close the enhancer over the strand or cord.
Stone enhancement: Stabilized (S)
• IMPORTANT: Sterling silver is an alloy containing metals that react with chemicals found in air and produce tarnish; high moisture levels, exposure to sunlight and contaminants such as salt water increase this reaction. Take steps to protect your sterling findings by keeping them in airtight packages, use tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb harmful chemicals, and store sterling findings in a cool, dry place. Most tarnish is easily removed by polishing with a mild abrasive or soaking in an anti-tarnish solution.
