This sterling silver friction clasp offers a smooth, streamlined closure for necklace designs made with leather, rubber cord or lightweight chain. Crimp or solder your choice of cord or chain (1.7mm diameter) into the clasp ends. Friction clasps operate by providing just enough friction between the two parts of the clasp to hold the necklace securely closed. See the how-to in the “More Info” tab for instructions on how to adjust a friction clasp that is a bit too loose or too tight. A friction clasp is a two-part tube-style clasp; one part of the clasp slides inside the other side; the parts are fitted tightly enough that simple friction holds the two snugly together until they are pulled apart. This clasp is ideal for chokers, slender neck rings and cable neck wires.

3. IMPORTANT: Only very slight changes are needed to significantly alter the fit of the clasp.
• Handcrafted items may vary slightly in size and appearance.
IMPORTANT: Sterling silver is an alloy containing metals that react with chemicals found in air and produce tarnish; high moisture levels, exposure to sunlight and contaminants such as salt water increase this reaction. Take steps to protect your sterling findings by keeping them in airtight packages, use tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb harmful chemicals, and store sterling findings in a cool, dry place. Most tarnish is easily removed by polishing with a mild abrasive or soaking in an anti-tarnish solution.
