Description

This two-strand sterling silver safety clasp features an open-filigree box design that complements strung bracelets and necklaces. Ideal for multiple strands of pearls, this sturdy clasp adds an eye-catching detail to your designs. Safety clasps (also called pearl clasps) feature two parts that connect in two different ways, providing a fail-safe that helps prevent loss of higher-value necklaces or strands and are ideal for pearl and gemstone strands. The interior part of the clasp is a slender hook with notches along the outer edge; the exterior part is hollow except for a locking bar. The interior part hooks over the locking bar and then slides inside the exterior part, the notches catching along the inner sides to hold the clasp securely closed. Even if the notches fail for any reason, the hook keeps the strand in place.

This clasp includes attach rings.

IMPORTANT: Sterling silver is an alloy containing metals that react with chemicals found in air and produce tarnish; high moisture levels, exposure to sunlight and contaminants such as salt water increase this reaction. Take steps to protect your sterling findings by keeping them in airtight packages, use tarnish-resistant products (such as tarnish tabs or strips) that absorb harmful chemicals, and store sterling findings in a cool, dry place. Most tarnish is easily removed by polishing with a mild abrasive or soaking in an anti-tarnish solution.
