This round simulated tanzanite features a bluish-purple color and facets that catch and reflect light. Use it by itself for simple earring or ring designs, or highlight the vibrant color by pairing it with contrasting-color stones in a pendant or brooch for a multicolor look. Tanzanite is one of the birthstones for December.
Producing consistent purple colors in laboratory-created gemstones can be difficult. By using a tinted adhesive to connect two sections of clear lab-created spinel at the girdle, creating a doublet, labs can produce consistent color throughout the stone. Unless the stone is immersed in highly refractive liquids, it is impossible to tell that only the girdle zone of a doublet has color. This simulated tanzanite displays a beautiful color.
Round-cut gemstones are highly popular and the most commonly available. Rio round gemstones are calibrated for size and hand inspected to ensure maximum attractiveness.
• Because laboratory-created spinel doublets are assembled with an adhesive, it is important not to apply heat to the gemstone. To be safe, clean these gemstones using warm, soapy water and a soft brush.
• Unless precisely calibrated to an exact size, gemstone sizes vary slightly. Rio allows a tolerance of +/– 0.2mm for gemstones larger than 4mm.
