This mother-of-pearl drop features carved flutes spiraling from point to base. The drop is vertically half-drilled for mounting on a peg and is an ideal choice for necklace and earring designs. The milky-white color and beautiful iridescence of this stone looks great when used alone or when paired with gold or silver findings and/or complementary-color beads in more complex designs. Use jeweler’s epoxy to secure the drop on a peg finding.
Named for its resemblance to the finish and color of pearls, mother-of-pearl cabochons are made from the hard, iridescent material that forms on the inside of some shells and shellfish. It is used for inlay and to create beads, cameos, cabochons, buttons, and other ornamental objects.
