This oval labradorite cabochon features a characteristic green/gray color with flashes of iridescent hues that seem to glow from within. Its unique optical quality and attractive, subtle colors make it a great choice for centerpiece designs, such as pendants. Use this stone alone or combine it with other colors of stones that complement the flashes to create multi-stone designs and more complex matched sets.

A plagioclase feldspar, labradorite exhibits pale iridescent hues of blue, gray and green. Labradorite displays a distinctive reflection of light that is known as “labradorescence.” This effect is due to geometric planes within the mineral structure at a submicroscopic level that are almost always oriented in one direction, but in such a way that they cannot be expressed by simple indices. Light reflecting from these planes produces an optical effect uniquely characteristic of this stone.
