This Glardon Vallorbe® micro three-square (triangle) file is designed to be used with your micro-motor in a hammer handpiece (1/8" shank) and is ideal for working efficiently in small, detailed, hard-to-reach places. If desired, the file can also be used by hand. It's a great choice for filing corners, edges, sharp angles and creases or folds; it is also useful for shaping the prongs on marquise- or pear-cut settings. The file is tapered and has double-cut teeth on three flat sides.
This file has a Swiss cut #4; Swiss-cut files are graded by the number of teeth, counting teeth perpendicular to the long axis of the file. In all cut styles, the higher the number, the finer its cut.
A double-cut file features two sets of evenly spaced teeth set in two directions, one at a slightly different angle than the other. Double-cut files are designed to cut more aggressively, maximizing the work of each stroke to remove more metal with fewer strokes.
The first choice for most jewelers, Glardon Vallorbe® files are manufactured to the highest production standards, made in Switzerland of the finest heat-tempered chrome-alloy steel, hardened to 65 HRC. The files are made from tough, durable high-carbon steel (66 HRC) and precision-ground to cut quickly and accurately and to last longer than just about any other file on the market.
