This teardrop-shaped red garnet bead is fully rounded and scored from top to bottom, giving the bead a corrugated look. The textured finish provides an attractive light-catching quality that looks great when used for pendants, drops and earrings. The bead is vertically half-drilled, making this bead an ideal choice for pendant and earring designs, either used individually or combined with an assortment of other colors of gemstone beads and pearls—it looks especially good with silver findings. Use jeweler’s epoxy to secure the bead on a peg.
Traditional red garnet derives its deep color from iron and magnesium.
• Bead sizes and hole sizes are approximate and may vary slightly from bead to bead.
• Red garnets are often almandine garnets but may also be pyrope garnets or a mixture of almandine and pyrope garnets. Both of these varieties of garnet are characterized by a rich red color. They are difficult to distinguish, and we do not attempt to separate them by type.
