The freshwater-cultured Keshi disc pearls on this strand feature an assortment of natural colors including green, gold, pink and gray that look great when combined with other pearls, beads or findings in necklace and earring designs. The distinctive, flattened growth pattern characteristic of Keshi-style pearls adds texture to multi-color and mixed-material necklaces and bracelets—consider emphasizing this texture by pairing these pearls with smooth, round or potato-shaped pearls.
Freshwater cultured pearls are cultivated in fresh water from mussels, often the triangle shell mussel (Hyriopsis cumingii), that are specially selected for their prolific production of nacre. It is not unusual for a single mussel to produce multiple pearls simultaneously. According to one legend, the pearl was formed from the tears of the goddess of love. For many, pearls are a symbol of pure heart and mind, honesty and integrity.
Each package contains one temporarily strung 15"–16" strand.
