Description

Bring 3D technology into your shop more economically and use it more easily than ever with this jewelry-edition package of the Formlabs Form 3 complete desktop printer, washing unit, curing unit and castable resin. If you currently outsource this work, you can now keep it in-house and get the higher quality that is possible when you do your own work. This very affordable, highly versatile printer system delivers the ability to create larger pieces, such as buckles or hollowware, and small or large production runs. In addition to building pieces that you might traditionally hand-carve, the printer is ideal for building designs that cannot be created any other way. Models are built layer-by-layer so that there is virtually no limit to the geometric complexity of the design you want to model: undercuts, cavities, intricate structuring and complex shapes are easily within reach.

In a matter of hours, the Form 3 system produces your designs ready to mold or to tree directly and cast. Build models specifically for molding or for direct casting, for prototype testing or to show customers physical models of unique or custom pieces. Design models using your CAD software, then import the file (.stl or .obj) into the Form 3 PreForm print preparation software, available to download free of charge at Formlabs.com. One-Click Print® offers the option to expertly set the orientation, supports and layout of your 3D model.

The Form 3 printer build platform is 5-15/16"W x 5-15/16"D and offers a very generous build envelope that accommodates designs (or high-production trees) up to 7-3/8" tall. The Form 3 offers a small footprint and fits easily onto a work surface.

The Form 3 3D Printer has an intuitive, user-friendly touchscreen control panel and accepts files via direct connection (USB) or wireless (WiFi/Ethernet) upload. The easy to use software is included and is available to download free of charge at Formlabs.com. The resin is delivered in fully contained cartridges that are clean and simple to use; insert the cartridge and the machine automatically recognizes the resin type and makes the necessary set-up adjustments to accommodate that resin.

The Form Wash unit offers a tank large enough to hold the maximum-volume grow from your Form 3 3D printer. The entire base slides onto a holder with the grow still in place, or the part (or parts) can be removed and placed in the wire basket. An automatic platform lowers the resin piece (or pieces) into a bath of isopropyl alcohol (or IPA; not included), and a small, powerful turbine in the base creates a swirling current that cleans every surface of every piece. Once the wash is complete, the platform automatically lifts the parts out of the tank, avoiding over-soaked, warped pieces. The parts dry quickly in the air and are then ready for production. The Wash unit includes a digital timer to control the wash cycle, a custom hydrometer that monitors alcohol saturation, a siphon pump that makes it easy to drain and replace the IPA when needed, and a built-in storage caddy to hold finishing tools conveniently at hand.

The Form Cure is designed with a top hinge that ensures easy access for placing the resin part(s) on the platform. The platform is perforated to aid the circulation of heat throughout the chamber and rotates at a consistent speed of one revolution per minute (1rpm) to expose every surface for even curing. An easy-to-use control allows you to set time and temperature for the cure cycle, then starts the cycle with the push of a button. The chamber, fully lined with highly reflective material, is heated to precisely 80°C, preparing the resin for curing, then bathed under 13 multi-directional LED lights that emit the optimal ultraviolet light wavelength to cure the resin perfectly.

Several resin formulas, in addition to the Formlabs Purple that is included, are available separately. These resins provide options that are specially designed for direct-to-tree casting or for molding and offer a range of characteristics.
