This Argentium® Silver 935 PRO casting grain is specially formulated to be perfect for filigree and finely detailed patterns. Refined as a 935/1,000 silver alloy, it has the hardness and strength of an alloy with a higher silver content than traditional sterling silver, delivering very white color, high reflectivity and hardness, which makes items made with this alloy particularly resistant to wear and scratching. This casting grain is carefully prepared using high-purity silver (99.99%) through a special deoxidizing process, a prerequisite for high-quality silver jewelry production. Casting metal, because it comes ready to melt and pour into your mold, is fast and efficient to use and, because it is professionally produced, you can count on consistent, repeatable quality and composition over time.

Argentium® 935 PRO casting grain is specifically engineered for investment casting using modern enclosed machines but performs well in open systems as well. It is the alloy of choice for those whose work is predominately investment casting. Tarnish resistant, anti-oxidant and anti-firescale, Argentium 935 PRO casting grain also provides excellent durability and is suitable for delicate and stone-in-place castings.

Applications: An excellent choice when using closed induction casting system or open torch-melt systems. This grain provides improved fluidity, which enables a more complete fill when casting many small items, items with flat surfaces or large surface areas, and fine filigree items.

Composition: Argentium® 935 PRO is made with copper and select deoxidizing elements; the alloy is guaranteed to be at least 93.5% pure silver.

Casting and Cleaning: It is important to use a flask temperature at least 85°F/30°C below that normally used for sterling and never higher than 1,250°F for Argentium® 935 PRO. Use in dedicated crucibles to prevent accidental cross-contamination. Air-cool at least 15 minutes before quenching to achieve a hardness approximately equal to that of standard sterling. Using boric acid as a flux is recommended.

Re-Using: When re-casting Argentium® Silver, we recommend 1:1 ratio of new grain to used silver. For higher-quality pieces, a higher percentage of fresh grain ensures the best results. Remove the copper oxides from the surface in a pickling solution and then tumble with burnishing compound to remove any remaining debris. Adding traditional sterling to this grain is not recommend as doing so tends to dilute the properties of Argentium Silver.
