Solid, Leak-Free Connection
The NeuSprue system begins with a base designed without a sprue button. Traditional "C"-style bases that have the bowl-like button area and a hole for the sprue can, especially over time, trap air at the point of connection that is released during the vacuuming process and adheres to the wax patterns, creating defects. The NeuSprue base does not have a button structure; instead, each NeuSprue wax sprue features its own built-in button at the end of the sprue. The interior of button is threaded, allowing it to be secured onto the specially designed base by a threaded plastic holder inserted through a small hole in the base. The base, sprue and holder form a fresh, airtight seal with every single tree.

The NeuSprue sprue and base design also eliminates defects that result from the wear and erosion common to “C”-style bases; there are no edges to erode—every connection is a new connection. “C”-style bases are used again and again; small tears and erosions trap bits of investment that can be carried into the model cavities, causing inclusions and gas porosity in the cast pieces. Finally, the beveled lip around the edge of the NeuSprue rubber base also helps ensure a leak-free seal between the base and the metal flask.

The NeuSprue plastic holder easily unscrews, so the base can be lifted from the flask without breaking the tree, stressing the wax patterns or marring the soft investment—all of which can happen when peeling back “C”-style bases to remove them from the flask.

Reliably Holds Its Shape
The proprietary specially formulated wax used to manufacture NeuSprue reliably holds its shape through the stresses and demands of the treeing process, then burns out cleanly and completely, and resists absorption into the surrounding investment—ensuring cleaner surfaces and higher quality castings.

Reduction of Turbulence
The tapered design of the NeuSprue button and sprue, as well as the specially designed tip, work together to reduce turbulence in the metal as it enters the mold. Less turbulence means less chance of air bubbles being caught in the casting, leading to fewer defects. Tapering also improves metal flow during the pour, enhancing the progressive solidification of the metal in the tree and improving the fill rate of patterns at the top of the tree. A better fill means reducing losses throughout the tree, especially in the most problematic areas.

Accessible Treeing
The NeuSprue base attaches easily to either one of the specially designed NeuSprue treeing fixtures—the portable or the bench-mounted, universal style—for quicker, more efficient treeing of wax patterns and full visibility while treeing wax patterns. The patented NeuSprue sprue readily holds its shape during the treeing process, and the hexagonal sides of the holder provide handy visual cues for aligning the wax patterns. Working along the tree on a NeuSprue treeing fixture allows fast and efficient use of the tree area with height/angle adjustments and a full, 360° rotation of the tree to ensure easy access to all sides.
