Senior PMC instructor J. Fred Woell explains how to quickly make a wax stamp that you can use to texture your metal clay designs. Courtesy of the PMC Guild archives.
Heat the end of a 1/2" x 1" File-a-Wax rod with a match, candle or soldering pen.
Press the heated surface against any textured or patterned surface, such as a coin, that can tolerate heat. You'll get very nice, sharply-detailed impressions.
Modify the stamp any way you want by carving, filing, or sawing. Use the stamp over and over, or erase it by re-heating or filing off the pattern.
