The term "conflict diamonds" refers to the diamond rough used to fund violent criminal insurgencies in several African countries.
The Kimberley Accord is a compact that regulates the sale and transfer of diamond rough to prevent the human destruction that conflict
diamonds cause. Rio Grande has long asked our suppliers to provide documentation proving the safe origin of the diamonds we buy.
You can be assured every diamond you buy from Rio Grande is certified “conflict-free” by both our strict standards and the Kimberley Accord.

Use silver-filled wire to get the bright whiteness of sterling at a very affordable price. You and your customers will appreciate both the durability and affordability of this high-quality material. The thickness of the sterling silver overlay on this wire constitutes a full 1/10th of its overall weight (twice the content of 1/20 silver-filled wire of the same gauge). This thicker silver layer lets you work deeper, polish more--even do light engraving--without exposing the brass underneath.
The sterling is bonded to a brass core (CDA #220; 90% copper/10% zinc). Because of the difference in color between the brass substrate and the silver exterior, this material also offers some design possibilities when treated as a bi-metal. By strategically sanding, cutting, polishing, and so on, you can create some incredible, unusual effects.
This wire is packaged in coils. The quantity ordered must weigh at least 0.5 ozt.; minimum purchase is 7 ft.

please note: • The brass core of silver-filled wire is visible on the ends of the wire; if wire ends will be exposed, they may need electroplating to cover this.
• All silver-filled fabrication metals are shipped with an informative technical data sheet.
• We strive to measure quantities ordered as closely as possible; however, due to manufacturing tolerances at the mill, please allow for a ±10% variance when ordering.
How Silver-Filled Metals Are Made
Silver-filled, like gold-filled, consists of precious metal (silver) bonded to a base metal substrate (a red brass alloy, CDA #220). The 1/20 and 1/10 notation refers to the ratio of silver to brass core by weight, which is 5% and 10%, respectively. All of Rio’s silver-filled products are made with quality sterling silver. Silver-filled jewelry is highly economical; your customers enjoy the bright white look of silver at a fraction of the cost. The value of silver-filled is greater than silver-plated because silver-filled has an actual layer of sterling silver, not just a microscopic film.
• In 1/10 silver-filled, 10% of the total weight of the metal is silver.
• In 1/20 silver-filled, 5% of the total weight of the metal is silver.
• In single-clad sheet, the silver layer is bonded to one side of the sheet of brass.
• In double-clad sheet, discs and other findings, silver layers are bonded to both sides of the sheet of brass.
PLEASE NOTE: The weight of the silver will be either 10% or 5% of the total weight of the sheet in either case; on the single-clad sheet, the all the silver is bonded to one side and on the double-clad sheet, the silver is distributed so that half is bonded to one side and half to the other side.
